解説

　一種の強調表現です。
　それよりも勝るものがないこと、よりよい状態がないこと、既に極限であることを表します。
　良いことにも良くないことにも使えます。

例文

（１）　勝負に負け、悔しいことこの上ない。　▶
　　　　　输了比赛，没有比这个更不甘心的事情了。
　　　　　Losing in a competition is the most frustrating thing.
（２）　彼がいると安心させられる。頼もしいことこの上ない。　▶
　　　　　有他在就很安心。无比可靠。
　　　　　When he’s around, I feel reassured. It’s nothing short of comforting.
（３）　こんなにも良くして頂いて、嬉しいことこの上ありません。　▶
　　　　　您对我这么好，真是太高兴了。
　　　　　Being treated so well like this, there’s nothing happier than that.
